Forecast Available Free to Members
Sales to reach record high,
despite economic
challenges Restaurants have a new
resource to help them uncover new business opportunities
in this economy. The National Restaurant Association's
"2010 Restaurant Industry Forecast" identifies numerous
opportunities to build business, attract and retain
customers and control costs, despite the economic
challenges. The Forecast projected
restaurant industry sales to reach a record high this
year, despite continuing economic challenges. The 2010

Restaurants for Relief -
Haiti
The National Restaurant Association,
the National Restaurant Association Educational
Foundation and Share Our Strength have joined forces to
organize Restaurants for Relief - Haiti.
Restaurants for Relief - Haiti is an industry-wide
fundraising effort to benefit Haiti's earthquake
victims. By February 12, Share Our Strength will grant
100% of funds raised through Restaurants for Relief -
Haiti to organizations we know have the capacity and
expertise to respond to such a crisis. Below are some
ways that restaurant members can help:
- Participate in Restaurants for Relief-Haiti and
donate a portion of sales before February 12.
- Collect donations from your patrons (we have a few
tools to make it easy) and send them to Restaurants
for Relief-Haiti by February 12.
- Encourage your employees to make individual
donations to Restaurants for Relief-Haiti, and match
them.
- Visit Restaurants for Relief-Haiti for more ideas.

On Tuesday, January 19th, Rue Bis the
little sister breakfast and lunch bistro to Rue
De L'Espoir held a fundraiser for the Haiti Relief
Effort. With the help of their generous patrons, the Rue
Bis staff donated all their tips to the effort. The
funds where matched by big sister Rue De L'Espoir with a
little bit more added on their own. $800.00 was donated
to the American Red Cross Haiti Recover Effort. Rue
Bis is that precious little gem located in the
Jewelry District right across the street from the
Children's Museum at 95 South Street.
RI Restaurateur Honored With Inaugural
Mayor's Culinary Cup Award
Joshua Miller, owner of Local 121 restaurant in Providence,
R.I., was awarded the first annual 2010 Mayors' Culinary
Cup Award, the National Restaurant Association
announced. The award was presented on January 22,
2010 during the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM)
winter meeting by the Association's immediate past

out for the 60-plus crowd
The Providence locations of Chelo's Hometown Bar & Grille
and IHOP have recently joined a new
