Kahn, Litwin, Renza & Co. Americans have
been given a special tax break for donations to help
earthquake victims in Haiti, thanks to a new law signed
by President Obama. Until March 1, 2010,

Celebrating 100 Years of hospitality;
Continuing the Legacy
100 years ago, 60 hoteliers in Chicago formed what
is now the American Hotel & Lodging Association to
provide protection from fraud, crooks, and deadbeats
wreaking havoc on their business. AH&LA
have come a long way and are celebrating their
100-year milestone all year long. Look back on the
events, people, and innovations that shaped our rich
history by visiting " 100
Yeas of Hospitality".
COBRA Subsidy Extended Article
from Fisher & Phillips LLP Newsletter
On December 19, 2009, President Obama signed the
2010 Defense Appropriations Bill, which included an
extension of the 65% COBRA Subsidy provision originally
enacted last February in the Stimulus Bill. If your
company takes responsibility for COBRA compliance and
issuing COBRA notices (as opposed to contracting it out
to a third party or relying on an insurance company) you
now have an action item to complete by February 19,
2010: you must send a notice describing the COBRA
changes to all individuals who were eligible for the
subsidy or who have experienced or will experience a
COBRA qualifying event at any time on or after October
31, 2009 and up until February 28, 2010. Read
