On May 10, 2017, Chef Walter Slater and General Manager
Joseph Parker of Trio hosted the winning ProStart culinary team from Chariho
Career & Technical Center who competed in the 2017 Rhode Island Seafood
Cook-off.
The team’s scallop dish is being featured on the restaurant’s menu from May 8-14, 2017. The students were treated to an afternoon of working side by side with Executive Chef Walter Slater making fresh pasta, homemade pizzas and their winning scallop salad dish.
This is what team member Bethany had to say:
Thank you, for your time on Wednesday, it was amazing to see how Trio's worked and I enjoyed the time there. Thank you, for being so kind in showing us around, taking time out of your day to answer any questions we had. Also, thank you for having my dish on Trio's menu, it is great to know my food is actually being liked and eaten. It was incredible to see how the restaurant is set up and shows what it will be like to actually work in the culinary field. Spending the day at Trio's was eye opening in what my profession could look like in the future, and would love to further my career more than ever because of how kind the staff was. Also, for the fact cooking is what I inspire to do, thank you for sharing your experiences and showing us around the amazing restaurant Trio's.
Sincerely,
Bethany H.
