Training Academy News
On March 16, 2018 RIHEF’s Entry Level Cook Training Program gave 18 participants the valuable skills required to enter the foodservice sector of one of Rhode Island’s top five industries. After three weeks of classroom and hands on lessons these individuals are looking to start their career paths in our industry!
Throughout the program participants learned about knife safety, food safety and basic kitchen operations. Each participant also earned a ServSafe® Food Handlers Certificate, and knows their way around a commercial kitchen.
With classroom lessons, and the hands on experience, Newport Harbor Corporation’s Chief Operating Officer, Casey Riley, Director of Operations, Karsten Hart and Director of Culinary Arts, Kevin DiLibero spoke about the pathways they took to achieve their current positions with NHC. Along with inspiration, they left the participants with the understanding of what hard work, dedication, and goal setting can do for professionals, in our industry of opportunity.
Each participant that has completed this program is actively seeking employment within the Hospitality Industry to pursue their career doing something that makes them happy!
