David DePetrillo Memorial Scholarship
The David DePetrillo Memorial Scholarship was established in loving memory of David DePetrillo, former Chairman of the RI Hospitality Education Foundation. This scholarship honors his lifelong dedication to education, tourism, and workforce development. A passionate leader and advocate, David spent his career creating opportunities for young people to succeed in hospitality. His tenure as Director of the Rhode Island Tourism Division and his commitment to education left an enduring impact on the industry.
This scholarship assists Rhode Island local students and adult learners through higher education opportunities. Deadline for applications: November 1st.
Who Should Apply?
- Local Students or Adult Learners enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college or university in New England, pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in the foodservice, lodging, or tourism industry.
Awarded Scholarship Range
- $2,500-$5,000
Requirements and Qualifications
- Complete all sections of the application (incomplete applications will not be considered).
- Be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited New England college or university, pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in hospitality.
- Submit a statement outlining your educational and career goals.
- Applicants are required to submit a written essay or video submission
- Include one letter of recommendation from a teacher, or mentor.
- Applications are due by November 1st.

Alfred A. Zannella Memorial Scholarship
The Alfred A. Zannella Memorial Scholarship is awarded to deserving Rhode Islanders pursuing education toward a career in the foodservice, lodging, or tourism industries. Al Zannella was the Executive Vice President of Mancini Beverage and a longtime Board Member of the RI Hospitality Association. He was a dedicated member of the hospitality community, always willing to lend a hand and help his industry thrive. This memorial scholarship was created to carry on the legacy of his generosity.
