A message from the American Hotel and Lodging Education Foundation (AHLEF):

This year, AHLEF is so excited to be offering more than $1.3 million in scholarship opportunities through its programs!

AHLEF administers nine academic scholarship programs.  Six are self-nominated scholarships to which hospitality management students can apply directly and do not require any school nomination or affiliation.  These scholarships are available to incoming freshmen through graduate level and awards range from $500 to $7,500, depending upon the program. We even have one program, the American Express Scholarship, that is specifically for current hotel employees and their dependents interested in pursuing a degree in hospitality management.  Employees of your hotels may be eligible for this program and several others as well.  Details regarding each program and the online application can be found on AHLEF's Website at https://www.ahlef.org/Scholarships/Academic_Scholarships/.  A pdf of AHLEF’s promotional scholarship flier can be downloaded from our Website.  The deadline date to apply for any scholarship is April 15th.

The Annual Scholarship Grant Program, one of AHLEF's three school-nominated scholarship programs, is co-administered with a core group of hospitality management programs. Currently, 70 schools participate and receive an annual grant allocation to award to their students: an average of $7,500 to four-year institutions, and $4,000 to two-year programs. In return, these schools have agreed to help us with the administration of AHLEF scholarships on campus. The affiliated school application and review period usually occurs every 3 to 4 years. If you are aware of any schools in your state that might be interested in applying for consideration to participate in this program next year (2019), please encourage them to visit AHLEF's website at www.ahlef.org/schools for additional information about the program, selection process, and access to the online school application. The deadline date for school applications is April 15th.  Please note schools do not have to be affiliated in order for their hospitality management students to apply for any of AHLEF's six self-nominated scholarships.
