Junior Achievement of Rhode Island is honoring four Rhode Islanders as recipients of the 2015 Morris J.W. Gaebe Profile in Excellence Award. These honorees are recognized for the positive impact their leadership has had on the Rhode Island community, and they are celebrated for their ingenuity and volunteerism.
The recipients this year include John Hazen White, Jr., a Barrington resident and the CEO of Taco, Inc., Schneider Electric (represented by Hal Grant, the Executive VP of IT Business), Lauren Slocum, a resident of Warwick and the President/CEO of Central RI Chamber of Commerce, and Dale Venturini, a Cranston resident and the President/CEO of Rhode Island Hospitality Association. The four honorees were chosen by their peers, and they exemplify the JA mission "to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy."
JARI aims to help Rhode Island students acquire the tools they need to achieve success. The organization depends upon the goodwill of volunteers who work with children ages 5-18, teaching them valuable entrepreneurial and financial skills that will inspire future achievement. Today, JARI has expanded to more than 20 Rhode Island communities, and it touches the lives of 7% of Rhode Island's student population every year. The Profile in Excellence Award is JARI's highest honor, and it is named after Morris J.W. Gaebe, the Chancellor Emeritus of Johnson & Wales University.
The presentation of this year's awards will take place at the Providence Marriott Downtown on Thursday, May 7, and the event will be hosted by Lt. General Reginald Centracchio, the former Adjutant General of Rhode Island.
